An informative guide to the most significant historical and religious sites around Makkah that you can visit during your Umrah journey.

Ziyarat, the practice of visiting significant historical and religious sites, is an important part of the Umrah experience for many pilgrims. Makkah and its surroundings are rich with sites of great historical and spiritual significance.

Jabal al-Nour, the Mountain of Light, is where the Cave of Hira is located. This is where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received the first revelation. The climb takes about 1 to 2 hours and is best done in the early morning or late afternoon.

Arafat, located about 20 kilometers east of Makkah, is the plain where the Prophet (peace be upon him) delivered his farewell sermon. It is also the site of the most important ritual of Hajj, the Day of Arafah.

Mina is known for the Jamarat, the three stone pillars that represent the devil, where pilgrims perform the stoning ritual during Hajj. The area also has the largest tent city in the world.

Muzdalifah is the area between Arafat and Mina where pilgrims spend the night during Hajj and collect pebbles for the stoning ritual.

Other sites include the Cave of Thawr, where the Prophet (peace be upon him) and Abu Bakr hid during the Hijra, and the Factory of the Kiswa, where the covering of the Kaaba is made.

A ziyarat tour typically takes 3 to 4 hours, but timing is flexible. We recommend booking a private vehicle with an experienced local driver who knows the sites and can guide you efficiently. Our ziyarat packages include comfortable vehicles and experienced drivers.
